Full Time (Monday - Friday, occasional nights and weekends as required)

Salary: $65,000


Responsible for sponsorship and sales of all major special events for the Center, including the Spring Fling (our black-tie gala), Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon, HOPE Telethon, and PAWMICON. This position will also be responsible for bringing in donated items for operations and other Center needs, as well as negotiating discounted pricing on items for events and for the Center's operations. It will assist the Event Manager with the creation of an annual master plan and budget outlining the objectives and timeframe for each event, including schedule of committee meetings and key organizational deadlines. This position must track all outgoing requests for support and responses, as well as generating and tracking agreements with all businesses, as well as recognition and final payments. This position must track all benefits promised to partners so that they receive what they are expecting and more. It is vital that this position cultivate each business partnership as it develops over time and work to take it to the next level of participation. Develop strategy for, and oversee all income-generating activities with businesses as part of the overall development program fundraising goals and objectives. Must work effectively as part of a team to meet fund raising goals with each member sharing ideas and information and providing customer service to all of the corporate partners, as needed. Researching new leads and making new connections in the community will be an ongoing part of the position, as well. Participate in Center activities and events as required. Complete other assignments as required. Represent HWAC standards of professionalism.


Minimum four years of college, Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum five years of sales experience in a corporate environment Minimum of 5 years experience in event sponsorship and sales. Solid understanding and proven experience in, organizing and managing special events, preferably auctions and walks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to persuasively present and interpret the mission, goals and programs of the Center to prospective sponsors and donors Good understanding of the laws and legal requirements relating to fundraising and on site events. Professionalism, tact, courtesy, integrity, in dealing with the Center's donors and prospects. Ability to motivate, train and manage volunteers and Development staff. Good word processing skills; excellent proofreading skills. Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment. Excellent time management skills and ability to establish own priorities. Must be able to meet deadlines and juggle multiple tasks. Discretion in handling confidential information relating to the giving history and backgrounds of donors/prospects.

As this position may require occasional driving duties employees must possess a valid Driver's License. Employee must complete a Driver Information From and provide a recent DMV driving record report to be kept on file, as well as proof of insurance.

Employee must demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
