Job Description 

 

POSITION TITLE: Database Coordinator  

REPORTS TO: Marketing and Communications Manager   

FLSA STATUS: non-exempt  

Location: San Diego, CA 

Compensation: $22.24-$31.37 

Who we are Kitchens for Good is a non-profit with the mission to use food to transform lives and nourish communities by providing people with the skills and support to launch meaningful careers. Kitchens for Good has provided training to more than 300 job seekers through its apprenticeship programs and distributed more than 600,000 hunger relief meals to food-insecure San Diegans. 

Position Summary: The Database Coordinator ensures timely communication, audience engagement, and donor acknowledgements to further Kitchens for Good’s mission and fundraising goals. The Database Coordinator is responsible for the recording and acknowledgement of the organization’s donors (volunteers, in-kind, and monetary) through Salesforce. This position works across all Kitchens for Good departments. This position ensures gift acknowledgements are timely and in accordance with the organization’s Donor Stewardship Matrix while maintaining optimal data integrity and confidentiality.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  •  Manage and implement tagging schema in MailChimp in collaboration with Marketing and Communications Coordinator and/or Manager.  
  • Work with Donor Manage Salesforce database to keep it current, and enable as much functionality as possible as it pertains to actionable segmentation 
  • Maintain donor relationship management database, including updating donor records, compiling biographical information, data entry, and pulling reports/queries as requested 
  • Oversee the management of confidential, computerized records of financial, in-kind, and volunteer donors, their giving histories, and other personal information 
  • Conduct system tuning, performance monitoring, and database maintenance 
  • Manage database Integration including Salesforce, MailChimp, Classy, Volunteer Hub and other TBD  
  • Work with appropriate KFG Team members and external resources to create actionable “dimensional” donor profiles which include monetary, volunteer time, and in-kind donations; establish a baseline LTV scheme and create actionable “best customer” profiles 
  • Perform segmentation in accordance with evolving donor tiers; proactively perform analysis of 

demographics, behaviors, and trends to create additional segmentation and messaging/campaign recommendations 

  • Generate and provide data files for either solicitation or suppression of donors 
  •  Work with Marketing and Communications Coordinator to generate reports to track giving levels, renewal rates, pledge collection deadlines, recurring gifts, and  other data for ongoing and campaign donors 
  • Assist with capturing donor attendance for KFG engagement events including Apprentice Run Cafes, Promotions, volunteer, donor recognition, and Kitchens for Good I SHOP events 
  • Assist Finance with the execution of a monthly reconciliation of Salesforce with general ledger 
  • Perform other related duties and special projects, as assigned 
  • Proactively propose CRM system upgrades, including opportunities for the incorporation of MA (Marketing Automation) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) 
  • Troubleshoot problems, improve overall processes, and ensure deadlines can be met even during periods of heavy gift volume  
  • Generate reports to track giving levels, renewal rates, pledge collection deadlines, recurring gifts, and other data for ongoing and campaign donors  
  • Assist with capturing donor attendance for KFG engagement events including Apprentice Run Cafes, Promotions, volunteer, donor recognition, and Kitchens for Good | SHOP events  
  • Assist Finance with the execution of a monthly reconciliation of Salesforce with general ledger 
  • Performs other related duties and special projects, as assigned

Education and Work Experience Qualifications  

  • Two years of college level education or equivalent experience  
  • Experience with database management system Sales force, required.  
  • Knowledge of workforce or industry trends in the food service and hospitality industry. 
  • Proficient experience and knowledge in Microsoft office 365 programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, One Drive, and Share Point).   

 

Work Environment 

 This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.   

In addition to the kitchen, this job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat steam, fire and noise.     

Physical Demands 

The employee is routinely required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.   

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

This is a full-time non-exempt position with a working schedule of Monday – Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, however occasional evening and/or weekend may be required.  The position is eligible for the organizations hybrid work policy, which would allow the individual to work from home 2 days a week and 3 days in the office.  

Travel  

Employee will be expected to travel to as needed, to additional KFG locations and employer partner sites. Employee must have driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to work across multiple sites.
