Company Profile

Christ Lutheran Church Pacific Beach

Company Overview

Christ Lutheran Church (CLC) is located in Pacific Beach, Calif. and was established in 1947. A traditional church service is held every Sunday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. and childcare during services is available on site for free. A virtual church service is offered via YouTube. The vision of CLC is to share God’s unconditional love and to tell the story of Jesus to all. All are welcomed to be part of CLC’s community, regardless of your race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, marital status, social or economic state, physical or mental challenge, and whether you are confident or questioning in your faith. CLC is a church committed to the work of anti-racism.

Located two blocks from the Pacific Ocean, the fitting slogan of CLC is: “Saints, Sinners and Surfers.” A prominent feature of the Church’s sanctuary is a twenty-foot-tall mosaic depiction of nature on the wall facing the congregation and spilling into a river on the aisle floor that leads to the front doors of the sanctuary. The Church’s extensive property encompasses the sanctuary, church offices, Garman Hall (including a stage, gym and commercial kitchen), a library, community garden, courtyard, Sunday childcare center, community gathering space, Wright Chapel, and God’s Garage, a space for 12-step recovery programs and the new home of The Compass Station, operated by Shoreline Community Services, which provides resources to the unsheltered neighbors of Pacific Beach. Christ Lutheran Church is located at 4761 Cass St., San Diego, CA 92109, (858) 483-2300.
